Connect and manage Glass plugins

Overview

Early Access. For access information, see Request access to Glass.

Glass plugins give Glass access to connected apps for tasks such as finding information or making changes. Connecting an account, allowing its use in a project, and signing in to a website in the Glass browser are separate actions.

Choose a Glass plugin account

Start with the task you want to complete, then review the app, account, and access it needs. Connect only what you need for that task.

For an app-based task, try: "Use the connected app first. Ask me before switching to the browser." Treat this as an instruction to review against the work, not a guarantee of tool selection.

Company plugin availability is separate from account connection. If your company has not enabled a plugin, ask your Glass admin to review it in organization plugin settings. A plugin appearing in the list does not mean your account is connected.

Connect a company account: In organization plugin settings, open the plugin. When company accounts are offered and none is connected, select Connect company account. Review the business-wide access warning before continuing with the shared account's authorization. If setup or company approval is required first, complete that requirement rather than connecting a personal account as a workaround.

Company account setup guides:

Connect a personal Glass plugin account

  1. Open personal plugin settings and find the app.
  2. Turn on its Connected switch when available.
  3. Complete the provider's sign-in and authorization. In Glass Desktop, finish in the browser that opens. If the plugin instead opens an API-key form, use that form rather than substituting a browser sign-in.

For a connection problem, follow Glass plugin connection troubleshooting.

Before connecting from a chat's access request, read the proposed access. Reconnecting there can also approve the waiting request. If Glass warns that it may be able to make changes until read-only access is applied, do not treat sign-in alone as a read-only restriction.

Review Glass plugin access for a project

Review the account owner, project, and requested actions before approving access. If Glass is waiting for a named person, ask that person to review the request. Select Allow only for access you intend to grant, or Skip to dismiss the request. Review any all-projects choice separately from access to just this project.

Open the project's More actions menu and select Settings, then review Plugins. All shows the project's shared accounts and available company accounts; Shared by me narrows the list to accounts you shared. Check Shared by, permissions, and any access-ended or connection warning before retrying a task.

Add a connected account: With write access to the project, select Add plugin. Choose Off to leave an account unshared, Read only when offered to view without changing information, or Allow all for all available actions. Select Save. If some changes fail, review the refreshed list before retrying; successful changes can remain saved.

Sharing an account gives the project access to use that account. Review plugin access before inviting more people.

Remove Glass plugin access at the intended scope

Remove access from one project: In the project's Plugins list, use the account row's More actions, select Revoke access, and review Revoke project access before confirming. Glass stops using that grant in this project; the account and other projects keep their access. If the action is unavailable, ask the person who shared the account to review it.

Disconnect your personal plugin: Turning off Connected in personal plugin settings disconnects the personal plugin connection, rather than removing just one project's grant. Use project revocation for a project-only change.

Disconnect a company account: A Glass admin can select Disconnect on the relevant company account and review the confirmation. This stops Glass using that account for everyone in the business, not just one project. Do not use it to test an individual connection problem.
