Will my Ramp card work internationally?

Overview

Ramp cards work in most countries outside the United States, including Canada, Mexico, and countries in Europe. To protect you from fraudulent international charges, Ramp has real-time monitoring in place. This monitoring will alert you if any transactions are not expected so you can easily review them. Our system may still send an SMS to your phone to confirm legitimate charges, but you only need to respond accordingly to verify.

How it works

The globe icon on the Reimbursements and Transaction page next to each line item indicates whether it was an international transaction. Hovering over the icon will indicate the amount of international currency used. Clicking on the reimbursement or transaction will display the currency conversion across the top.

Please be aware that Ramp cards do not support transactions from certain countries, including but not limited to Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, Russia, and Ukraine including (****Crimean region).

It's important to note that some countries have strict payment policies that may lead to declined transactions, which is beyond our control. The transaction will be declined if you attempt a transaction with a charge originating from one of these blocked countries. If you have a phone number linked to your Ramp account, you will receive an SMS decline message informing you that the country is blocked.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to set a travel notice before using my Ramp card abroad?

No. Ramp does not have a travel notification feature, and none is required. Your card works internationally without any advance notice.

What should I do if my card is declined while traveling?

Check your SMS messages for a notification from Ramp. If the decline was caused by a fraud flag, reply to the SMS to confirm the transaction is legitimate, then retry. If the decline was for a different reason, see Transaction declines for troubleshooting steps.

Will I be charged fees for international transactions?
