Issuing a Ramp card or funds

Note: This article primarily applies to Ramp Administrators. Cardholders may find other articles in the Cards and transactions section to be more applicable.

Overview

Ramp makes it easy to issue cards and funds to employees with specific controls. Funds are unique in that the physical card must spend from funds. The physical card does not have any money by itself. Each physical card is automatically issued with funds. You may choose to issue multiple instances of funds. Virtual cards are issued for online purchases, such as for subscriptions. They are not used with your physical card.

How to issue a card or funds

For employees already on Ramp, Admins or Managers can issue cards in the following ways:

  1. Click Manage Spend from your dashboard.
  2. Navigate to the Cards or Funds tab.
  3. Click Issue in the top right corner.
  4. Select from the type of spending you want to issue: funds for general expenses, a virtual card for online spend, a specific vendor card (Product or Service), or a physical card.
  5. From here, you can also select who the spend is for, dollar amount limits, merchant & category restrictions.
    Note: For physical cards, you’ll be prompted to either enter the shipping address on behalf of the cardholder or send them a notification to add it from their My Ramp dashboard.

If a cardholder has not provided their shipping address

When you issue a physical card and choose to send the employee a notification to add their mailing address, Ramp sends a one-time notification. The employee will see a prompt on their Ramp homepage to submit their address. The card ships after they provide it.

This notification cannot be resent. If the employee has not yet provided their address, you can enter it on their behalf:

  1. Go to People .
  2. Select the employee.
  3. In the cards section, click Manually enter address .
  4. Enter the shipping address and confirm to ship the card.
