How to lock or terminate Ramp funds and cards

This article explains how to lock, terminate, and lock your physical card as a cardholder, manager, or admin and provides guidance for specific funds.

Locking cards and funds

Locking cards and funds give you security and control. Any transactions attempted on a locked card or funds will be automatically declined. Cards and funds can be unlocked at any time.

How can I lock funds or cards as a cardholder?

To lock specific funds under your physical card:

  1. Go to My Ramp .
  2. Click on the View all -> button underneath the Card icon on the right panel.
  3. Click on the specific fund you would like to lock.
  4. Click on the Actions button at the top of the drawer.
  5. Click Lock .

Unlock the specific fund at any time by following the same navigation steps and clicking Unlock. Please note that if the locked fund is linked to a physical card, the physical card will also be locked.


To lock your physical Ramp card, which will lock all funds associated with that card:

  1. Go to My Ramp .
  2. Click on the Card icon on the right panel, a drawer will pop out.
  3. Click on the Actions button at the top of the drawer.
  4. Click Lock .

Unlock the card anytime by following the same navigation steps and clicking Unlock card.

How can I lock funds or cards as an Admin or manager?

Admins and Managers can lock cards and funds assigned to other users. If cards and funds are locked by an Admin or Manager, only they or someone with a higher role can unlock it.

To lock a teammate's specific funds:

  1. Go to Funds & cards .
  2. Ensure you are on the Funds tab.
  3. You can search for the specific funds you'd like to lock by filtering by the cardholder's name.
  4. Click on the funds, then Actions button at the top of the drawer.
  5. Click Lock .

Unlock the funds anytime by following the same navigation steps and clicking unlock.


To lock a teammate's physical Ramp card:

  1. Go to Funds & cards .
  2. Go to Physical cards .
  3. Search for the card you wish to lock by filtering by the name of the cardholder.
  4. Click on the card, then Actions button at the top of the drawer.
  5. Click Lock .

Unlock the card anytime by following the same navigation steps and clicking Unlock.

How can I view lock history as a user?

The entire history of a physical card is located on the Activity tab. There, you will see the card or funds lock history, which includes who locked it and the lock date.

  1. Click on the card or funds.
  2. Click on the Activity tab.

Card remains locked after fraud replacement

If you reported fraud and received a new card, your card may remain locked if there are still required actions on a flagged transaction.

How to unlock your card

  1. Sign in to your Ramp dashboard.
  2. Go to the Home page.
  3. Look for any Required actions related to your transactions.
  4. Open each flagged transaction and complete all outstanding requirements (e.g., upload a receipt, add a memo, confirm details).
  5. Once all requirements are completed, your card will automatically unlock.

Terminating funds and cards

You can terminate specific funds or physical cardsat any time in Ramp. Terminating a physical card or funds are irreversible.

Once a physical card is terminated, it and any associated funds will be declined for any attempted transactions. You can no longer submit reimbursements on the funds. Any refunds to terminated cards will still be processed back to your account. All previous transactions on the card will remain accessible in the transaction history. Terminated funds can be viewed in the Manage Spend > Funds > Terminated section.

How can I terminate funds?

Specific funds can be terminated in Ramp, and this action is irreversible. Here's how to terminate a fund:

  1. Click on the funds you intend to terminate.
  2. In the upper righthand corner, select Actions .
  3. Click on Terminate .

How can I terminate a physical card?

To terminate a physical card, simply click on the card, click Actions, and Terminate - this action is irreversible.

If your physical card is lost or stolen, or if you need to replace it, you can reorder a new one yourself.

Why you can’t view full card details for terminated cards

When it happens: You’re trying to review a card that’s been terminated and need its full number, expiration date, or CVV.

Why this is restricted: To protect your company and stay compliant with PCI rules, Ramp never displays or retrieves full card details for any card — active or terminated. No team at Ramp is able to override this security limitation.
