Overview
This article walks through how you can lock your physical card as a cardholder, manager, or admin, as well as how physical cards can be terminated. This also provides guidance for specific funds.

Locking cards
Locking cards give you security and control. Any transactions attempted on a locked card will be automatically declined. Cards can be unlocked at any time.
How can I lock a fund or card as a Cardholder?
To lock a specific fund under your physical card:
- Go to My Ramp.
- Click on the View all -> button underneath the Card icon on the right panel.
- Click on the specific fund you would like to lock.
- Click on the Lock button at the bottom of the drawer.
Unlock the specific fund at any time by following the same navigation steps and clicking Unlock.
To lock your physical Ramp card, which will lock all funds associated with that card:
- Go to My Ramp.
- Click on the Card icon on the right panel, a drawer will pop out.
- Click on the Lock card button at the bottom of the drawer.
Unlock the card at any time by following the same navigation steps and clicking Unlock card.
How can I lock a fund or card as an Admin or Manager?
Admins and Managers have the power to lock cards assigned to other users. If a card is locked by an Admin or Manager, only they or someone with a higher role can unlock it.
To lock a teammate's specific fund:
- Go to Funds & cards.
- Go to Allocated funds.
- Search for the specific fund you wish to lock by filtering by the name of the cardholder.
- Click on the fund then click the Lock button at the bottom of the drawer.
Unlock the fund anytime by following the same navigation steps and clicking unlock.
To lock a teammate's physical Ramp card:
- Go to Funds & cards.
- Go to Physical cards.
- Search for the card you wish to lock by filtering by the name of the cardholder.
- Click on the card then click the Lock card button at the bottom of the drawer.
Unlock the card anytime by following the same navigation steps and clicking unlock.
How can I view lock history as a user?
The entire history of a physical card is located on the Activity tab. There, you will see the card's lock history, which includes who locked the card and the date of the lock.
- Click on the card.
- Click on the Activity tab.
Terminating funds and cards
You can terminate specific funds or physical cards at any time in Ramp. Physical cards can be terminated with the assistance of Ramp support. Terminating a physical card or fund is irreversible.
Once a physical card is terminated, it and any associated funds will be declined for any attempted transactions. You will no longer be able to submit reimbursements on this card or associated funds, but refunds will still be processed. The card and its activity can still be viewed by setting the filter to "Terminated" on the Physical cards tab. All previous transactions on the card will remain accessible in the transaction history.
How can I terminate a fund?
Specific funds can be terminated in Ramp, and this action is irreversible. Here's how to terminate a fund:
- Click on the fund you intend to terminate.
- Select Edit.
- At the bottom of the page, click on Terminate.
How can I terminate a physical card?
To terminate a physical card, you must reach out to Ramp support for assistance. If your physical card is lost or stolen, or if you need to replace it, you can reorder a new one yourself.
How can I terminate a user on Ramp?
Terminating a user on Ramp will also terminate all cards linked to their account.
- Funds: can be transferred, and you will have the chance to assign them to another user before deleting the account.
- Physical cards: cannot be transferred and will be terminated when the user account is deleted.
