Logging into Ramp for the first time

Overview

To sign in to Ramp for the first time, you need an invite from a Ramp admin, Business Owner, or manager at your company. The invite email contains a secure link that takes you to the Ramp signup page, where you create your account using the sign-in method your company has configured.

This article covers how to accept your invite, what sign-in options you may see, and what to do if something goes wrong.

Accept your invite

  1. Open the invite email from Ramp and select the secure invite link.
  2. You will see a Claim your account page showing that your company has invited you to join Ramp.
  3. Create your account using the sign-in method shown on screen. Depending on your company's settings, you may see email and password fields, a Create account with Google button, a Claim with SSO button, or a combination of these options.
  4. Use the same email address that your company used to invite you.

If you already have a Ramp account with another business, Ramp will recognize your email and ask you to sign in to your existing account first. After signing in, you can accept the new invite and join the additional business.

Available sign-in methods

The sign-in methods on the Ramp sign-in page are dynamic. Ramp determines which options to show based on your email address and your company's authentication settings. You may see one or more of the following:

If the sign-in page does not show the method you expected, check with your Ramp admin or IT team to confirm which sign-in method is enabled for your account.

All Ramp accounts may be asked to complete multi-factor authentication (MFA) depending on your company's security settings and risk checks. This can happen even after SSO. For more detail, see Multi-factor authentication (MFA) overview.

Complete your setup

After you create your account, Ramp walks you through a short setup flow. The exact steps vary, but you can expect to:

Once setup is complete, you are taken to your Ramp dashboard.

Troubleshoot first-time sign-in

For detailed troubleshooting steps, see Troubleshooting Ramp sign-in and MFA issues. Below are the most common first-time sign-in issues.

I did not receive the invite email

  1. Confirm with your Ramp admin that they sent the invite to the correct email address.
  2. Check your spam, junk, and filtered folders.
  3. If the invite was missed or expired, ask your Ramp admin to resend it from People > Pending invites .

Invite links expire after a set period (typically 14 days). Ask your Ramp admin to resend the invite, then use the new link to continue.

My admin invite uses a different domain

If an admin invites another admin using an email address that does not match the company's verified domain, Ramp requires an extra approval step before that invite is sent. An existing admin receives an email to approve or reject the invite. The new admin cannot accept the invite until it is approved.

If you are waiting on an admin invite and have not received it, ask an existing admin to check for the approval email.

I still cannot get into Ramp

If your admin has confirmed the invite is correct and active, ask them to verify which sign-in method is enabled for your account. If the issue persists, your admin can reach out to Ramp for assistance through How to contact Ramp's Support team.

Frequently asked questions

What sign-in methods can I use?

Your available sign-in methods depend on your email address and your company's authentication settings. Ramp may show email and password, Google SSO, SAML SSO, passkeys, or a combination of those options.

Why am I being asked for MFA?

Ramp may require MFA when you sign in based on your company's security settings or the risk level of the sign-in attempt. This can happen even if you use SSO. For more detail, see Multi-factor authentication (MFA) overview.

What if my invite expired?

Invite links expire after a set period (typically 14 days), though your company may use a different expiration window. Ask your Ramp admin to resend the invite, then use the newest link to continue.

What if I already have a Ramp account?

If you already have a Ramp account with another business, Ramp will prompt you to sign in to your existing account before joining the new business. After signing in, you can accept the new invite without creating a separate account.

What if I do not see the sign-in method I expected?

Ramp dynamically determines which sign-in methods to display based on your email address and your company's configuration. If you do not see the method you expected, check with your Ramp admin or IT team to confirm which method is enabled for your account.
