Connect Claude API to AI Spend Management

Overview

Connect Claude API so Ramp can import your API cost and usage data into AI Spend Management. You can connect automatically with Ramp for Chrome or manually with an Admin API key.

Note: Provider setup is the same whether your business has a standalone AI Spend Management account or a core Ramp account. The screenshots below show an older connection name; in Ramp, look for Claude API.

Before you connect Claude API

You must belong to a Claude Platform organization. Personal accounts cannot connect.

Your Ramp role must allow you to connect providers. See roles that can connect providers for core and standalone accounts. If you do not have one of these roles, ask someone who does to connect the provider.

Connect automatically with Ramp for Chrome

This option is available only when automatic setup is enabled for your business, you use a supported browser with Ramp for Chrome installed, and you have permission to administer AI Spend Management. If you have permission to administer AI Spend Management but do not see Connect automatically, use the manual Admin API key instructions instead.

  1. Install Ramp for Chrome.
  2. Open Connect Claude API in Ramp.
  3. Select Connect automatically. If you are a Claude Platform admin, Ramp creates the API key. Otherwise, Ramp identifies your admins and emails them instructions.

Connect manually with an Admin API key

  1. Open Admin API keys in Claude Platform and select Create admin key.

  2. Give the key a descriptive name and set its expiration.

  3. Copy the key, open Connect Claude API in Ramp, paste the key, and select Connect.

Troubleshoot connecting Claude API

Check whether you are a Claude Platform admin

  1. Open Admin API keys in Claude Platform.
  2. If you are an admin, Admin keys appears under Organization settings and you can select Create admin key.

Get help from a Claude Platform admin

  1. Find your Claude Platform admins from the members page.

  2. Open Connect Claude API in Ramp.

  3. Select Email admin and send the connection instructions to an admin.

Upgrade to a Claude Platform team organization

AI Spend Management is not compatible with individual Claude Platform organizations. Upgrading to a team organization is free.

  1. Open Organization settings in Claude Platform and select Convert to team. If you are a Claude Platform admin and do not see Convert to team, you are already in a team organization.

  2. Complete the form.

  3. After you submit the form, Admin keys appears under Organization settings. You can now create an Admin API key and connect Claude API to Ramp.
