Reporting Agent

Overview

Reporting Agent lets you ask questions about your company’s spend in plain English, and instantly receive charts, insights, and answers. No need to build reports manually or dig through filters. Just type your question, and Ramp’s AI will do the work.

With Reporting Agent, you can:

Ask natural-language questions about your Ramp data
Instantly generate reports with visualizations and summaries
Drill into trends by vendor, department, category, or time period
Chat with the AI to refine your question or ask follow-ups
Export or share reports with teammates (based on permissions)

How it works

Simply ask a question, and Ramp's AI will build the appropriate visualizations and provide relevant insights.

Access Reporting Agent: In the left sidebar, go to Insights → Reporting → Create Report. At the top you will see the entry point to ask a question
Ask your first question: Be specific about period, department, category, or vendor for sharper results. You can ask any question in plain English about your spend data.
Interpret the results: Review the AI-generated report with charts, tables, and insights. Use interactive elements to explore the data and ask follow-up questions to dive deeper into specific areas.
Iterate with chat: Ask follow‑ups like “break this down by department” or “show last quarter vs this quarter.”
Save and share: To save an AI-generated report, open the report from the icon in the top-right corner of the Reporting Agent results. In the new report window, click Save as new . You can’t save the report directly from the AI creation panel. After saving, you can share or export it like any other report if your role has access.

Contextual AI access: You can also launch Reporting Agent from existing reports and ask questions without switching tabs or losing your place by clicking on the chart and selecting ‘Ask Ramp’

Best practices and tips

Be specific in your questions
Include time periods (e.g., "last month," "Q2," "year-to-date")
Specify departments, categories, or vendors when looking for specific information
Use follow-up questions to drill down into interesting data points
Combine multiple aspects in one question (e.g., "What was our top expense category by department last quarter?")
Ask for visualizations if you have a preference (e.g., "Show me a bar chart of...")
Save frequently used reports for quick access in the future

How accurate are the AI-generated reports?

Reporting Agent pulls directly from your Ramp data, so the information is as accurate as your underlying data.

Why can’t I save a report directly from the Reporting Agent panel?

Saving isn’t available in the AI creation panel. To save the report, open it from the top-right icon, then click Save as new in the new window.

Yes, you can save and share reports generated by Ramp’s Reporting Agent. This makes it easy to distribute insights across your organization without requiring everyone to build their own reports. Access to shared reports is still governed by your organization's permission settings.
