Overview

Ramp's Policy Agent now provides a full, structured assessment of every expense — going beyond a simple "in policy" or "out of policy" label. When reviewing an expense, you'll see exactly what Ramp evaluated and why it made its recommendation, so you can make faster, more confident approval decisions.

What you'll see

When you open a transaction or reimbursement for review, the expense detail page shows a summary of the most important findings at the top. To see the full assessment, click See what Ramp checked. This expands a detailed breakdown across four areas:

Each area shows a colored status indicator (green, neutral, or red) along with a written explanation specific to that expense.

How it works

The Policy Agent evaluates each expense by checking submission quality, alignment with your company's expense policy, risk signals, and business purpose, then synthesizing those findings into a structured summary with the most critical details surfaced at the top.

Frequently asked questions

Is this available for both transactions and reimbursements?

Yes. The full assessment applies to both card transactions and reimbursements.

Does every expense show the same four areas?

Yes. Every expense is evaluated across the same four areas for consistency. Some areas may show as not applicable if they don't apply to a particular expense.

Can I still see the original policy status?

Yes. This is only additive — all the original policy checks and status will still be presented.

Who can see the full assessment?

The assessment is controlled by the Policy Agent visibility settings. This can be changed on the Policy tab. We recommend showing this to all reviewers, as it drives significantly more compliant reviewer behavior.

I don't use the Policy Agent — can I access this?

No. You need to use the Policy Agent to access this feature.
