Overview
At Ramp, we take our responsibility to protect the security of your account seriously. We continuously monitor accounts for unusual activity and suspicious account behavior and alert our customers when unusual behavior takes place. Our fraud protections follow industry best practices and are enhanced with our own innovative solutions.
Despite these efforts, fraudsters constantly seek ways to steal financial and personal information for their own benefit. Fraudsters target everybody. You can defend yourself and your company by recognizing common scams and taking a few steps to improve your security posture.
Recognize common online threats
- Credential Phishing: fraudsters may attempt to trick you into giving them your username and password (and sometimes MFA code), which they will then use to log in to an account on your behalf and steal information or money.
- Exploit Phishing: fraudsters may send you links or attachments via email or text, which when opened, contain malware that can impact your computer.
- Social Engineering: fraudsters may contact you, often pretending to be someone else, in an effort to get you to take action.
Be proactive and protect yourself
Recognize and thwart phishing! Before typing your password:
- Check the URL of the site you are on. Is it what you expect? For Ramp, the URL should be app.ramp.com.
- Phishing websites are designed to look very similar to legitimate websites. If something looks different than what you expect, you may be on the wrong site!
Stop fraudsters in their tracks
- If you receive a call, text, or email asking for a verification code or personal information, don’t reply.
- If you accidentally provided a verification code to someone who might be a fraudster, update your password immediately.
Prepare
- Bookmark commonly used login pages (like app.ramp.com/sign-in) so it is easy to find the right page.
- Use unique and complex passphrases for all of your accounts - do not use the same passphrase or password for two accounts. Consider using 1Password or another provider to generate, store, and auto-fill our unique passphrases.
- Add a reputable ad blocker to your browser, such as uBlockOrigin or PrivacyBadger. Fraudsters sometimes use advertising technology to target you with attempts to compromise your accounts.
- Regularly update your devices and browsers to the latest available software.
- Enable multi-factor authentication for all of your devices using an authenticator app, Touch ID, Windows Hello, or a hardware token if available! Here’s how to enroll an authenticator app for your Ramp account.
Additional information
Ramp support will never contact you to ask for your password, card information, or login verification codes. Nevertheless, fraudsters may impersonate Ramp or members of the finance team at your company to attempt to trick you into sharing sensitive information.
