Ramp Banking Payments Overview
This article is applicable only for Ramp Checking Account provided by the First Internet Bank of Indiana.
Ramp supports a range of funding, transfer, and withdrawal methods to give businesses flexibility and control over how they manage cash within the platform. These money movements can be grouped into three flows: Inbound (money coming into your Ramp Checking Account), Book Transfers (internal transfers between Ramp-managed accounts), and Outbound (money leaving Ramp-controlled accounts).
Inbound flows (funding / deposits)
Inbound flows refer to money moving into your Ramp Checking Account, including:
- ACH Pulls : Initiated from within Ramp to pull funds from a linked external bank account
- ACH Pushes : Sent from an external bank to your Checking Account (need to provide routing/account number)
- Domestic Wires : Sent from external bank accounts. Typically settle faster
- Real-Time Payments (RTP) : Instant transfers initiated externally into your Checking Account
- SEPA (EUR) / USDC Pay-ins : Sent off-Ramp via SEPA (EUR) or via Bridge (USDC) into your Checking Account
- Checks : Deposited by submitting images through Ramp web or mobile
- Cashback Redemption: Redeem cashback into your Checking Account
These methods fund the Checking Account and are often used to support card spend, bill payments, or transfers to investment accounts.
Book transfers (internal account to account)
Book transfers are internal movements between Ramp-managed accounts, including:
- Checking Account → Investment Account (buy orders)
- Investment Account → Checking Account (sell orders)
- Transfers between virtual accounts for reconciliation or allocation
These are initiated within Ramp and typically settle same day or next business day, depending on the direction.
Outbound flows (withdrawals / payments)
Outbound flows involve money leaving Ramp-controlled accounts, including:
- ACH pushes to linked or unlinked bank accounts (manual or scheduled transfers)
- Wire pushes to linked or unlinked bank accounts (manual or scheduled transfers)
- ACH pulls by authorized third parties (if enabled via debit settings)
- Bill Pay (Ramp’s vendor payment system)
- The Bill Pay wire limit is currently $12M
- Real time payment is exclusively available when funded from a Checking Account, when it’s available. This is instant and limit is up to $1M
- Card statement payments (instant relief of credit limit)
- Reimbursements
- Ramp Services (e.g., wire fees or subscription payments)
Processing speed varies by method and the recipient’s bank.

Frequently asked questions
How early do customers have to send in payments via wire to send out payments same day?
Incoming wires typically settle within minutes once Ramp receives them. There is no strict guaranteed timing, but as a rule of thumb funds should land in the Checking Account before 4pm ET. Working backwards from that:
- If sending out a payment via wire , send by ~ 2pm ET
- If sending out a payment via same-day ACH , send by ~ 1pm ET
If a wire funding a bill payment arrives after the cutoff, the bill may become unscheduled. You can retry the payment once funds settle. Approvals typically do not need to be redone.
Bill payments via domestic wire initiated after 1pm ET on a business day (Mon–Fri), or on weekends or holidays, will be initiated the next business day.
How can I fund my checking account as soon as possible?
Wire or RTP (real time payment) money in from your external bank. ACH deposits initiated within Ramp could take up to 0 to 4 business days to settle.
How can I move funds out of my checking account as soon as possible?
Fastest way to move funds out of a Checking Account to another bank account is to wire money out within Ramp. Ramp does not charge a wire fee. Wiring to consumer bank accounts is not supported and will fail.

| Inbound Payment Method | Cutoff Time (ET) |
|---|---|

| Standard ACH | 9:10 pm |
| Same-day ACH | 1:00 pm |
