Overview
Every so often the ownership of your business may change. In this situation, we've made it very easy for the Owner or another Admin transfer business ownership in Ramp. The main responsibility that comes with the formal Owner tag is control over separation of duties, used to manage logic in our Bill Pay, Spend, and Treasury products.
Below is the step-by-step process for handling this transfer.
Note: Only other Ramp Admins are eligible to have ownership transferred within the app. If you need to transfer ownership to another user, please contact support.
Transfer business ownership to a Ramp Admin
- Navigate to Settings > Company settings then click the Edit company profile button.
- In the Edit company profile drawer, scroll down to the Business owner section.
- You will see the name of the current Business Owner, and if you click the dropdown you should see the list of all other Admins at the company.
- Select the Admin you would like to change ownership to then click Save changes.
- You may be prompted to verify via MFA code (via your designated method of SMS, authenticator, or email).
- You will then be prompted to confirm business owner change, highlighting the notice about Separation of Duties control. Click Continue.
- You should see that the Business Owner name in Company profile should be updated. Additionally, you should that the name will now have the Owner role in the People tab while the former owner will now be an Admin.
