Managing the Ramp Slack integration
Ramp Admins can set up the integration with Slack from the settings section of their Ramp dashboard in just a few clicks. Note: the steps should be completed by someone who has sufficient access to your Slack instance.
Connecting to Slack
- Navigate to the Settings page on your Ramp dashboard
- Select Integrations > Slack
- You can read a little more about our Slack Integration before connecting and when you are ready to connect your Slack workspace, click Add to Slack
- You will be taken to Slack’s where you can read about the permissions our app asks for. Click “Allow” when you are ready to connect.
- That's it.
Configuring your channel preferences
Once connected, you can follow these steps to enable business activity alerts or all transaction notifications. You can set up two different channels for alerts in your Slack workspace: 1) Business Activity and 2) All Transactions
- Select a channel in your workspace from a drop down. The channel picker starts by listing the public channels in your workspace.
- To connect a private channel, go back to Slack and type “/invite @Ramp” inside your private channel. Then click “Refresh channel list” on Ramp.
- Your business activity alerts are now connected!
- Customize your notifications by using the toggles
Disconnecting from Slack
If you decide after implementing the integration that you'd like to disable it, you have a few options:
- You can keep the integration but unsubscribe from the business activity alerts or all transaction alerts.
- You can also disconnect the entire integration by clicking “Disconnect Slack Integration”
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
- Why can't the Ramp app on Slack find my Ramp account?
- If you want to request spend or review spend requests on Slack, Ramp needs to match your Slack account to your Ramp account using your email. If the email you use on Slack doesn't match the email you use on Ramp, we won't allow you to take action on requesting or approving new spend for security purposes.
- How can I control who sees our financial information on Slack?
- You can easily control who sees your finance notifications by setting up alerts in private channels rather than public ones. It's completely up to you to decide which team members you want to invite to your private channel once its set up.
- Which Slack notifications can I toggle off as an employee?
- An employee cannot toggle off individual Slack notifications that are not in their notification settings. For example, there is currently no way to toggle off reimbursement notifications.
- Can I link multiple Slack instances to Ramp?
- We currently support one Slack instance per customer.
