Overview
This guide is designed to help you troubleshoot and resolve common issues that may prevent text messages, including verification codes, from reaching your mobile device. Let's ensure you're set up to receive all your important messages without delay.
Check your phone number
First, please ensure that the mobile number linked to your account is correct and can receive SMS messages. If you've recently changed your phone number or suspect it was entered incorrectly, please update your contact details in your Ramp account settings.
Possible reasons for non-delivery
If your phone number is accurate, but you're still not receiving verification codes, here are some common issues to check:
- Short-code blocks: Ramp sends verification codes using a short-code number, 447-267. Some mobile carriers block these types of messages by default or due to specific restrictions on your account.
- Spam filters: Your device or carrier may mistakenly flag our messages as spam, directing them to a separate folder or blocking them altogether.
- US carrier restrictions: Some US carriers outside the major ones (AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon) impose restrictions on mobile messaging services such as SMS codes. As a backup, you can click the option to receive MFA via phone call.
- International phone number restrictions: international phone numbers often face restrictions blocking them from receiving SMS codes.
Solutions
Try phone call (audio) in addition to SMS
You should see an option to try receiving your MFA codes via voice call as a backup to SMS.
Check your messages for spam
You can check for messages in spam, or messages marked as "Unknown senders".
iOS / Apple Devices
- Open the Messages app.
- If you see Filters in the top-left corner:
- Tap Filters.
- Tap Unknown Senders.
- Scroll to look for messages from Ramp.
- If you do not see Filters in the top-left corner:
- Scroll to look for messages from Ramp.
Android Devices:
- Open the Messages app.
- Tap your profile picture in the top right corner.
- Select Spam & Blocked.
- Scroll to look for messages from Ramp. If found, open one and select Unblock.
Contact your carrier
Unblock short codes: Contact your mobile carrier to ensure short codes are not blocked on your account. Specifically, ask them to allow messages from 447-267.
Save Ramp as a Contact
Adding Ramp’s short code 447-267 to your contacts under the name HIRAMP can help prevent our messages from being filtered as unknown or spam.
