Overview
All Ramp funds and physical cards expire approximately four years after their issue date. As the expiration dates approach, Ramp will send email and SMS notifications and prompt cardholders to confirm their mailing address for physical card shipping. Ramp may also update card details in stored digital wallets and update stored card information with participating merchants where possible!
How it works
Funds expiration
For expiring funds, Ramp will prompt you to renew them through SMS and email. Once you complete this, we will automatically update any funds in your mobile wallet, too!
A banner will be displayed at the top of “My Ramp” and in both funds and vendor card drawers 14 days before expiration. You will also receive an email notification about the funds that are expiring.
Ramp sends notifications on the schedule below:
- Approximately 1 month before the funds expire.
- An email on the day of expiration to alert customers we have automatically reissued their fund(s)
- If vendor details have not been updated with the new funds information, a notification will be sent for vendor payment failures due to card expiration
If you do not renew your funds, Ramp will automatically do this for you once it's expired.
Physical card expiration
For expiring physical cards, Ramp will notify and prompt you to verify your address before Ramp automatically re-orders the cards.
Expiring physical cards that need to be re-issued or have been re-issued will show in the "My Ramp" dashboard, in the physical card drawer, and in mobile apps. Cardholders must verify their address so Ramp can reorder their card.
Ramp sends notifications approximately 2 months before your physical card expires.
If you do not confirm your address one month before the expiry date, Ramp will automatically reissue a card for you to the address where your previous physical card was delivered.
Declines due to physical card expiration will trigger an email to the user letting them know they need to activate their card once shipped. If you have not received your card, please review Ramp's email notification for the address the card shipped to or log in to order a new physical card if it has not arrived. Expiring physical cards are terminated upon activation of the replacement.
