Activating a physical card

Overview

We understand that activating your card is an important step in getting started with Ramp. We want to make this process as easy as possible. Below are three easy methods to activate your card and start using it for your business expenses.

Finish before activating your card

You must complete the following to successfully activate your card:

1. Finish onboarding to Ramp : you must complete creating your Ramp account and any additional verifications needed
2. Phone number added to Ramp account : to activate a card via SMS, your Ramp account must be set up with a phone number, and you must use that phone number for the SMS activation
3. Confirm delivery to activate your physical card: after your card has been delivered, navigate to your physical card on your Ramp homepage and click Confirm delivery . Physical card transactions may be declined until you confirm delivery in your Ramp dashboard.

How to activate your physical card

Method 1: Activation through Ramp.com

1. Once you receive your physical card in the mail, sign in to your Ramp account at Ramp.com .
2. In your dashboard, locate the physical card icon and click on it to begin the activation process.
3. You'll be prompted to enter the last 4 digits of your new card.
4. After entering the last 4 digits, click "Activate" to complete the process.
5. If the activation is successful, you'll receive a confirmation text.
6. The card will be marked as "Active" in your dashboard, and your card will be ready to use right away.

Method 2: Activation via SMS

1. If you have already added your phone number to your Ramp account, you can activate your card through SMS.
2. Text the last 4 digits of your card number to 447267 if you are in the US or (844) 331-1023 if you are international.
3. Make sure to use the phone number registered to your Ramp account for this activation.
4. If the activation is successful, you'll receive a confirmation text.
5. The card will be marked as "Active" in your dashboard, and your card will be ready to use right away.

Method 3: Activation via mobile app

1. Download Ramp's iOS app from the App Store or Android app from the Google Play store .
2. In your dashboard, locate the physical card icon and click on "Activate" to begin the activation process.
3. You'll be prompted to enter the last 4 digits of your new card to complete the activation.
4. Pull down the screen to see a refreshed page with your activated card.
5. Your card is now ready for use.

Frequently asked questions

How long do I have to activate my Ramp card?

• You have 6 months to activate your card
• Cards not activated within 6 months are automatically terminated by Ramp

Can I (Admin / Business owner / Card manager / Delegate) activate a card on someone's behalf?

• No, only the owner of the card can activate the card
• This is due to security reasons to prevent fraud

What if I switched companies and my phone number is attached to my old Ramp account?

• Please contact support , we'll help you remove your phone number from your old account and add it to your new account

Do I need to sign the back of my Ramp card?

• Signing the back of your Ramp card is not required for activation. Activation is completed entirely through digital channels by entering the last 4 digits of your card number via the Ramp dashboard , mobile app, or SMS.

Why are the global merchant and category restrictions I set for physical cards applying to virtual cards too?

• Virtual cards may also be declined if restricted by category or merchant settings.
